GREEN OASIS JOURNAL NO. 8

From October to December

Last flush of colours and it looks like the neighbourhood volunteers had done a bit more tidying up just before the winter kicked in.

Bricks were put down surrounding the pond

Some plug treatment on a small tree stump in the woodland area (to prevent stump regrowth)

Some black bags, presumably used to gathered up the trimming of weeds, ivy and tree branches
Tidied up border, looking good in the the autumn/winter sunshine!

An Annexe bug hotel has been installed at the corner of the woodland area, sheltering yet more bugs and encouraging more biodiversity.

Iris plants in in the woodland area next to some slate stones. Not sure if someone had made this arrangement - if so, it is artfully done, looking very natural and yet pleasing to the eye.
Looking forward to the iris blooms in the spring.

Keyfield Terrace Guerrilla Garden in October

Cosmos blooms - giving pink highlights to this small garden patch in late October.

Orange daylily in the left picture - it should bring orange lily-like blooms come late spring.

Colourfully painted stones spread around the soil - not sure if they have any other purpose or are purely decorative.
Chrysanthemum - the reliable autumn flowering, Chinese native plant. It's amongst top gardeners and florists' favourites.
Its blooms come in countless variety of colours and are symbols of longevity in Chinese culture. When they appear, you know it's September.

The patch holds chrysanthemums of several different colours. Below is orange red while this one one the left is wine-red.
